Claim a sacred space in each day.
The days go by in a flash. Slam-bam and you are crawling into bed. Writers are just like everyone else, except they’ve decided to claim sacred space in each day to pause.
Learn to make pause. Stop. Notice. Think some thoughts.
Sacred means something you protect. Protect the pause.
Then, write words on a piece or paper or clack them on a screen. They matter because no one in the whole wide world has the same pause as you. This makes it sacred. This makes you sacred.

The days do go by in a flash, even in quarantine. When I was a child summer was endless. I reveled in watermelon days and firefly nights. Now, summer is a glorious sunny day, a torrential rain, a day at the beach maybe, and then back to school. Lately, I’ve been having a hard time finding places of hope. I stumbled across an idea for a Someday Soon jar, and it has helped me think about a brighter horizon.

I spent some sacred time with my high school friends this past weekend and learned a lesson about smiling behind the mask…just in time for back-to-school.

I love this post about a sacred space, and although I didn’t read this before I wrote, I was thinking about a space that became sacred for me in college.

What an awesome connection and perspective. Thanks for sharing it! It is helping me approach my own tangled web of emails, messages, bookmarks, with a tad more peace and breath!

I left you a comment on your blog – but it didn’t show up, so I thought I’d leave it here just to be sure you saw it.
I loved reading this post. You gave me books to add to my list, and a good chuckle. Good luck — in case you possibly, maybe, will write a memoir! 😉

For me, the sacred space comes in understanding our deep connection to the universe through our relationships with one another. I recently discoverd the work of Joanna Macy.

I went kayaking today on a local creek/reservoir and maybe this was my sacred space for the thoughts I wrestled with today and put in print tonight. I worked hard to not ramble about what’s ahead.

My sacred time has been praying, thinking, noticing, being in awe, making meaning, and shock of shocks (lol) writing poetry.
