Describe yourself as a writer.
My son Jordan is a high school sophomore and in creative writing. On his first day of school he came home with an assignment: to describe himself as a writer. “I’m halfway done,” he said.
It made me chuckle, because I wondered if he were halfway done with the assignment or halfway done with being a writer.
It wouldn’t take me long to complete the assignment: I write. That’s it. It is the basic tenet of my writer self.
I’ve been thinking about the way Jordan wrote a whole lot more than two words to describe his writer self. Perhaps it is a worthy exercise. Perhaps you want to try it. Perhaps you don’t. Either way describes a bit of your writer self.
And in the end, the important thing is to write.

Writing is like breathing for me. I am writing and writing is me. It sounds trite as I write this – but it is so true for me.

I love this: “I write. That’s it. It is the basic tenet of my writer self.” Yes, a hundred times.
Thinking about how I find more words to read.

It took me a day to figure out how to respond this week. On a different day I might have answered differently.

Well, lol, I almost ignored the prompt again. But then I thought — “It’s a great question. Give it a moment of thought.” So I did, and then I wrote … https://creativitylovingeducator.com/2020/08/14/who-am-i-as-a-writer/

As a writer, I work in bits and pieces – I start – I put aside – I start again. In defining myself, I work the same way, but how cool to be able to begin again and again… https://untanglinglifedotblog.wordpress.com/2020/08/14/be-the-person-you-needed/
