Write off of a word.

It is popular to select One Little Word in lieu of a resolution. Maybe you kept a word close during 2020. Maybe you didn’t. Perhaps you are thinking of One Little Word for 2021. Perhaps you aren’t.

The prompt today, if you are looking for inspiration, is to select a word and write about it. See where it leads you. As we know, because we are writers, words are magical.

*Remember, you don’t have to accept this invitation…but I do hope you will accept the invitation to write. Sharing our stories is magical.

    3. Fran – I loved: Be aware of the great gulf between data that’s visible and the stories of human children, not so visible. Push back all that encroaches on growing the children, that which would inhibit their love of learning. Reclaim that for them. Know them and their families and their stories. Know your colleagues and their stories.

      Yes, yes, yes! And also – As the page turns from 2020 to 2021, we’ll see where life leads. It may be in charge of the story, but we are in charge of the craftsmanship. – I need a t-shirt with that saying on it!

    4. Such an interesting post. I like your questions at the end, especially – What are your thoughts about “hard”? Is this something you enjoy, is it stressful, or is it something else entirely?

      It’s always a process finding the right amount of hard in learning – hard that is challenging, but not overwhelming. It is a dance I do every day with my students. Eventually, I hope they will view learning as an adventure – sometimes hard – but always rewarding.

      1. That is what I am questioning – Is hard always a bad thing or is it something kids need to experience and see that it is a part of learning. I can’t wait to talk with him more to hear his thoughts.

    2. LOVE THIS – Nanc! Open mindset – skiing in your 60’s! I’m an ice skater but the rinks are closed, so my husband bought me roller blades that mimic ice skates! Been out twice on an outdoor roller hockey rink. So much fun and so terrifying at the same time! Loved this post and the pictures and your humor and your love for you husband! Happy New Year!
