Maybe it’s time to make a break.
One of my favorite craft moves is paragraphing. No joke. I like the way a simple break changes the sound and, sometimes, the meaning.
Naturally, I am also quite fond of line breaks in poetry
and in prose.
After you write, take time to reread and consider the paragraph breaks
and the line breaks
that could be arranged differently. Writers call this revising. Revising literally means to look again. Look again at the breaks in your writing.
To note, I think this is exceptional advice for all aspects of life. Look again and consider when or where you need a break.
*Remember, you don’t have to accept this invitation…but I do hope you will accept the invitation to write. Sharing our stories is magical.

Hi, Story Magician Friends – here’s a poem I wrote after witnessing this moment between my husband and our little granddaughter. It caught my heart. I am still playing around with line breaks.

I love breaks, too, Ruth! 🙂 Sometimes I think I add too many or not enough… LOL
This week, I continued the topic of courage. So many acts of daily courage this year… I think it’s time for us to collectively be courageous https://untanglinglifedotblog.wordpress.com/2021/01/14/collective-courage/

I did this with a piece I had written elsewhere and then decided to share on my blog, but on the blog, I made more breaks. https://dkzody.wordpress.com/2021/01/08/coping-skills/

I wasn’t able to leave a comment on your post, but wanted to say how much it touched my heart as a parent of three college kids.

Mandy, I also couldn’t leave a comment. I love how you held back her location until the end. Of course, Paris will love your daughter! You’ll have such fun hearing about all her adventures.

Mandy, I tried to leave a comment on your powerful post and something glitched – there’s a little spinning wheel on your comment button. Not sure what happened. You captured so much here about how it feels when a child is beyond the parameters of our protection, at various stage of life. That fierce “motherlove” is forever. 🙂

I almost felt like there was a force…not wanting to publish this (in the form of another internet shut down this morning)
I’m laughing right now about it… take a look and see why it really isn’t a laughing matter! XO

I’m back on thinking about words. This is some more thoughts on sketchnoting with 4th graders and their reactions to Martin’s BIG words.
