There are times writing goes awry.
An email from an #SOSmagic story collector arrived in my inbox with a link to her post for this week. I mentally slapped my forehead with my palm because I realized invitation number 46 didn’t go live last Thursday. It takes a matter of minutes to fix it, but here I am, three days later, just now making a post live.
I used to let this kind of mistake drag me down.
Now I’ve learned to say, “Oops.”
There’s a Bob Ross quote that hangs on the door from our house to our garage. It is a reminder to the whole family and goes like this:
“I don’t make mistakes. I make happy, little accidents.”
Bob Ross
Oops has a lot more power than negative expletives. Oops means I’m moving on without being pulled down. I hope you’ll share a story, even though the invitation was a little late this week.
*Remember, you don’t have to accept this invitation…but I do hope you will accept the invitation to write. Sharing our stories is magical.

What I find magical in Ruth’s oops is that some wrote and shared in the FB group anyway. I think that shows the strength of a community.
I have been struggling with writing for me lately. I am trying hard to get something down and not thinking something up – words from Julia Cameron.

Life is a long string Happy Accidents! I was waiting and waiting and hoping nothing was wrong. Didn’t think to contact you, Ruth! I just was patient and knew you would post and you did! Here’s a reflection on a lesson I did last week inspired by Julie Cox’s Shakespeare quote and post. I am ever grateful to you and to my fellow SOS bloggers for helping me get inspiration to write every week. THANK YOU!

Ruth, thank you for posting your oops. If you only knew how many times I mess up, especially with technology! Mostly, thank you for creating this space for writing and reading. It’s so helpful.
I am finishing my latest writing notebook and how rereading parts of my notebook writing helped me reflect a bit more deeply: http://trinarrative.blogspot.com/2021/02/sosmagic-power-of-notebook-rereading.html

This post was written two years ago and waiting in my drafts for the right time to publish. Ruth’s invitation opened the door to my own oops. https://lcinmo.wordpress.com/2021/02/28/oops-2/

I posted this in the face group as a response to write fast, but I think it fits with the oops and happy little accidents! 😀
Enjoy … and if you have time, make lots of bad drawings! 😀
