Capture a Slice of Life.
I remember writing slices before it was a thing. Back when there were just two teachers who loved teaching and loved writing and wanted to write alongside one another about teaching writers, even though they were 865 miles apart.
A lot has changed since then. The magic of a slice, though, remains. Today, regardless of whether you are joining the March 2021 Slice of Life Challenge, I would like to invite you to write a slice of life.
*Remember, you don’t have to accept this invitation…but I do hope you will accept the invitation to write. Sharing our stories is magical.

Isn’t it amazing that a little think like meeting with friends indoors and unmasked is a treasured thing. I am so happy for you! I hope this will happen for me SOON! Enjoy!

YAY! Great feeling isn’t it. Mine came yesterday in the form of an email. MONDAY is VACCINE DAY for me! Maybe we will all get back to “normal” sooner than we think!

Well, this week I was still thinking about what I know for sure…. intriguing for me to mull over. Sun is sparkling on our little lake today… will be hard to go back to the predicted snow coming. Have a terrific weekend and week. XO

I loved this piece, Nanc! I love the way you express that our wishes don’t always turn out how we thought they would – but they do turn out. And I believe prayer and faith continue to help me through this awesome journey. Your words reminded me of Josh Baldwin’s song – Evidence. Have you heard it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6jD7N1HvbI

Oh Julie – Comfort Me with Apples! One of my favorite, favorite books. I went on a stint of reading all chef memoirs and I loved them. One you might like and is mostly unknown – The Agony of the Leaves – about the life of Helen Gustafson, who was a tea buyer for Alice Waters – https://www.amazon.com/Agony-Leaves-Ecstasy-Life-Tea/dp/0788157019.
I loved your last paragraph especially. This week was my dad’s 95th birthday. We could not go in see him. I sent him a huge cheesecake. He just sent me back a picture of himself with the cake, a cup of coffee, and a smile. PRICELESS.
Thank you for this!

What a face that Emma has! I spent part of my week trying to find my “lost” neighbor’s cat – Lightning. We finally found him under the bushes near his home whimpering, but unharmed and safe. My neighbor ecstatic. Cat Love. Very important.

Your honesty is so helpful and inspiring. Teaching is not all a downhill joyride, is it. I love your words: The snow days we had in February and Spring Break next week left our curriculum all caddywampus. We were filling in the gaps like we were plugging a sinking boat. We were scrambling and nothing was coherent. They weren’t engaged, and that wasn’t their fault. – This is so true for so many of us. Thanks for putting it into words.

Aw, just wanting to be your best, is the best. Knowing your students — and you — deserve it, that’s being the best. Rest, refresh, your best is right there.
