open invitation no. 54: out loud

Read your writing aloud while you draft.

I constantly read my writing aloud as I draft. This allows me to:

  1. Hear the sound of the words.
  2. Slow down and consider the meaning.

This allows me to craft the writing and make the words bubble or burrow. Try it. Read your draft aloud. Hear the sound of the words. Consider the meaning.

*Remember, you don’t have to accept this invitation…but I do hope you will accept the invitation to write. Sharing our stories is magical.

    1. You made me laugh – so sweet – the Cleaning Teacher. The Kindergarteners used to introduce me to their parents as the Cooking Lady because I used to come in read stories and then we would make a treat based on the story. I hope those days come back soon!

  1. Usually, I like to wait a day, however, I’ve missed a few weeks so I tried it today. I will come back tomorrow and comment on your stories…. maybe after I get supper ready for tonight. Love you all XO

    …going back, please
